We are a home-run car air conditioning specialist based in Alvaston, Derby. Darren Dukes has carried out condenser work for six years for www.staykool.co.uk customers, across thousands of vehicles and all makes and models. This article explains exactly what to expect if you book with us, so there are no surprises on the day.

Step 1: get the leak confirmed

The £229 fitting price applies once the fault has been diagnosed as the condenser. If it has not been confirmed yet, book a £35 leak test and diagnosis first at www.staykool.co.uk. It stops you buying a part your car does not need.

Step 2: order your condenser

You supply the condenser, which is why the total cost is so much lower than a garage quote. Order it from our supplier and it is delivered by DPD the next working day. Most condensers cost between £50 and £150 depending on the vehicle.

Step 3: book your slot

Appointments are booked online, seven days a week between 9am and 5pm. We work by appointment only from our unit in Alvaston, so please do not turn up without a booking.

Step 4: drop the car off, collect it two hours later

Bring the car and the new condenser at your booked time. We remove the front bumper or trim as needed, fit the new condenser with new O-rings and seals, pull a vacuum on the system, leak test it, then charge it with the correct refrigerant for your car. Come back around two hours later and drive away cool. Payment is cash on the day.

What the £229 includes

  • Removal of the old condenser and refitting of trim and bumper
  • Fitting of your supplied condenser with new O-rings and seals
  • Full system vacuum to remove air and moisture
  • Leak test before charging
  • Full re-gas with R134a or R1234yf, whichever your car takes
  • UV dye added so any future leak can be traced quickly
